Xcel Energy earns perfect score on "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality" by the Human Rights Campaign

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Dec. 7, 2016) – Xcel Energy has been selected among the nation’s top corporations for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality by earning a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI).

Xcel Energy has earned a place on the HRC’s “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” list for 14 years.  For the first time this year, Xcel Energy achieved a perfect score of 100 percent.

The HRC evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices corporations nationwide. The rating process takes into account factors such as a company’s equivalency in spousal and partner benefits, equal employment opportunity policy, and LGBT-specific public engagement efforts and responsible citizenship. Since 1995, Xcel Energy has offered benefits to Minnesota employees’ domestic partners and children, allowing LGBT families access to equal benefits.
